PRIVATE
MICHAELS. I looked everywhere for the knife.
SERGEANT. Are you sure? (Looks through the
bundle of uniforms.)
PRIVATE MICHAELS. I said it wasn't here. I even
searched him. (A sound comes from behind them.
Both men turn startled.)
SERGEANT. Sir, is that you? (No reply)
Go check it out.
PRIVATE MICHAELS. Yes sir. (Sends Sergeant
a look that confirms another message between the
men.)
SERGEANT. Sir? (Still no reply.)
PRIVATE MICHAELS. (off stage) There's no
one here Sergeant? Must have been rats or something.
Forget it. They won't come back. (Walks back
to stand beside Sergeant.) |
